What's happening with soy wax prices?

The recent dramatic rise in soy wax pricing are more than just a simple price increase and therefore we would like to explain the changes in the market that have caused this price jump.

The simplest answer we can give you is demand for soybean oil, the main component wax manufacturers such as (Ecosoya, Cargil, & Golden Brands) use to make soy wax, has more than doubled since April 07. Oil prices had been relatively stable prior to that.  The biofuel market started to really pick up, and foreign countries began buying large amounts of US soy. Biofuels are alternatives to petroleum made from vegetables or plants that burn with lower emissions and reduce our dependence on Middle Eastern oil. While this has been great for American farmers, the environment, and the US economy as a whole, it has been tough on those of us used to buying soy at a lower price. We know that those of you who make your candle to sell may be forced you to raise prices as well, make sure to let your customers know about biofuels and what's happening with soy in the market place today.

Soy prices have gone up across the board and we have tried to hold off our price increase as long as we could. We always work to keep prices as low as possible and we will continue to do so.
